The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University''s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Network Field Services; the Network Operations Technician will work closely with customers, peer technical groups and other support organizations / groups in order to maintain a central local area network for over 30,000 users as well as multiple off-site locations throughout the New York City Metropolitan Area.
The hours for this role are Monday - Friday from 8am - 4pm.
Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor''s degree and/or its equivalent required.
Minimum of 3-5 years related experience.
3+ years related work experience in IT working with the following data and telephony network systems:
Structured cabling systems.
Power distribution and UPS systems.
Wireless LAN systems.
Network technology components.
IP Network Protocols and common network configurations & troubleshooting.
Proficient understanding of cabling infrastructure and differences between CAT 3, CAT 5/5E, CAT 6 and CAT 6A cabling.
Familiar with Applications including Visio, Cisco IOS, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat.
Familiar with HSRP, Spanning Tree, VLAN configuration changes, SNMP monitoring and Radius authentication concepts.
Experience with network technology components.
Experience with Network protocols like TCP/IP and UDP and subnetting..
Knowledge of fiber optic networks, POTS, VOIP, DR procedures.
Ability to handle moderate to heavy network supplies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
Demonstrated excellence in a variety of competencies including teamwork/collaboration, analytical thinking, communication and influencing skills, and technical expertise.
Ability to work with changing priorities and with multiple projects.
Ability to be precise and attentive to detail is essential.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work weekend and off-hour work on occasion.
Flexibility to participate in a periodic weekly 24x7 on-call rotation that may require working days and weekends
