The Tower Permitting Specialist is responsible for preparing and submitting entitlement applications, permits, and agreements to support the installation of communications facilities. This role requires expertise in municipal processes, zoning codes, and ordinances, along with frequent interaction with local governments and jurisdictions.
Prepare and submit zoning and permitting applications; monitor progress and address jurisdictional requests.
Collaborate with design teams to develop permit drawings and construction documents.
Evaluate jurisdictional requirements vs. preferences; negotiate as needed.
Manage zoning and permitting tasks in accordance with defined processes and metrics.
Serve as entitlement lead in customer meetings as required.
Provide subject matter expertise on municipal codes, Sec. 6409(a), and FCC regulations.
Prepare 30-day and 60-day shot clock letters when needed.
Communicate zoning/permitting conditions of approval to internal teams.
Manage outside vendors as needed, ensuring compliance and reporting.
Handle permitting fee payments and track expenses for visibility.
Build and maintain relationships with municipalities, city councils, planning and zoning staff, commissions, and neighborhood groups.
Research and advise internal teams on zoning/permitting requirements; identify risks and propose solutions.
Bachelor's degree in business, planning, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
Wireless industry background preferred but not required.
2+ years in planning, zoning, land use, or telecommunications permitting.
Proven zoning and permitting experience is required.
Familiarity with Section 6409 and Eligible Facilities Requests is required.
Strong communication and public presentation skills.
Ability to interpret construction plans, standards, and surveys.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
