The 811 Locate Ticket Screener plays a critical role in the damage prevention process by reviewing and screening utility locate requests submitted through the 811 system. This role ensures tickets are accurately assessed, prioritized, and routed to support safe excavation and construction activities.
This position is primarily office-based with a hybrid schedule and requires strong attention to detail, experience with high-volume ticket processing, and familiarity with utility locating practices.
Review incoming 811 locate tickets for accuracy, completeness, and relevance to company assets
Determine ticket priority and route to appropriate internal or external teams
Cross-reference ticket locations using GIS systems and asset databases
Process Utility Design Requests and Tracer Wire requests
Manage 811 inbox and support locator invoice processing
Communicate with contractors, utility locators, and internal teams to clarify ticket details
Identify potential conflicts or risks and escalate when necessary
Maintain detailed records of ticket activity, status updates, and communications
Support damage prevention initiatives and reporting efforts
Perform administrative duties related to ticket tracking and documentation
High School Diploma or equivalent required
1–2 years of experience in utility locating, construction, telecommunications, or related field
Direct experience with 811 locate systems (strongly preferred)
Ability to interpret digital prints/design drawings and utility maps
Experience working in high-volume ticketing environments (200+ tickets per day preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ticket management systems
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Effective communication and customer service skills
Basic understanding of underground utility infrastructure
Technical training or coursework in GIS, telecommunications, or utility locating
Experience with GIS mapping tools
