POSITION TITLE: Network Systems Administrator

DEPARTMENT: Informatics / Information Technology

NATURE OF POSITION: The Network Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining the stability, security, and performance of COFMC's network infrastructure to support the delivery of healthcare services across the organization. This position ensures the availability, reliability, and functionality of critical network systems, services, and equipment. The Network Systems Administrator is responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance, and support of network infrastructure and related technology platforms while promoting cybersecurity, data integrity, and operational continuity throughout COFMC.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with implementation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure, managed switches, firewalls, VPNs, fiber networking, and static IP management.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to Active Directory (AD), Azure, or similar identity management platforms in a healthcare or multi-site environment.
  • Knowledge of healthcare cybersecurity principles, including Managed Detection and Response (MDR), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), ePHI security requirements, and healthcare cyber-risk frameworks.
  • Experience with LAN/WAN infrastructure management, cloud backup and disaster recovery solutions, server mapping, and endpoint security platforms.
  • Experience with Information Management Systems (MIS, CBIS, or IMT).
  • Ability to analyze technical issues and communicate technical information to users and leadership in a clear, concise, and understandable manner.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between clinic locations as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Cisco/Meraki infrastructure, MX appliances, managed switches, FortiGate firewalls, VPNs, fiber networking, and static IP management.
  • Experience with implementation, configuration, and maintenance of VoIP telecommunications platforms and multipoint control units (MCUs).
  • Experience with server setup and configuration, virtual host environments, SQL database administration, and HL7 interface connectivity.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards, including HIPAA, ePHI compliance, and disaster recovery best practices.
  • Experience supporting multi-site healthcare environments and electronic health record systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Configure, maintain, and support Cisco/Meraki infrastructure, managed switches, MX appliances, FortiGate firewalls, fiber networking, static IP addressing, and VPN connectivity across all COFMC sites.
  • Maintain technical expertise to support COFMC networking, infrastructure, and cybersecurity needs and make recommendations for improvements, upgrades, and system enhancements.
  • Issue requests for proposals, review vendor responses and products, and make recommendations regarding technology solutions and services for COFMC.
  • Provide support for local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), computer hardware, operating systems, applications, servers, virtual host environments, SQL databases, and HL7 interfaces.
  • Monitor hardware and software lifecycles and make recommendations regarding upgrades, replacements, and technology investments.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to computers, servers, telecommunication systems, printers, and network equipment; coordinate with vendors when necessary.
  • Support the configuration and maintenance of email systems, anti-spam solutions, user accounts, and related messaging services.
  • Maintain file servers, cloud backup systems, disaster recovery solutions, server mapping, static IP assignments, and endpoint security solutions in accordance with industry standards and healthcare security requirements.
  • Provide technical support for VoIP phone systems, voicemail, multipoint control units (MCUs), audio/video equipment, and Quality of Service (QoS) configuration to optimize network performance.
  • Work with department leadership to develop and implement Information Technology policies, protocols, and procedures in compliance with HIPAA, ePHI security requirements, and accepted industry standards.
  • Participate in short- and long-term planning for Information Technology initiatives, infrastructure improvements, cybersecurity readiness, and departmental goals.
  • Assist with project planning, implementation, and prioritization to support departmental objectives and operational effectiveness.
  • Serve as a technical resource for Information Technology staff and assist with knowledge sharing, training, and mentoring as appropriate.
  • Travel as necessary to meet the needs of all COFMC locations.
  • Participate in Compliance and Performance Improvement activities for continuous quality improvement and risk management purposes.
  • Provide direct technical support to COFMC staff related to end-user workstations, peripherals, printers, software applications, and network connectivity.
  • Maintains documentation to network infrastructure, system configurations, inventory, disaster recovery procedures, and technology standards.
  • Participate in after-hours and weekend support rotations as assigned.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
