Network and Systems Technician
Pay: $22/hour
Location: Near Clifton Park, NY
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

We're seeking a Network and Systems Technician to design, install, and maintain personal computers, local and wide area networks, and associated peripheral equipment. You'll be responsible for identifying and resolving network and system issues, with occasional work outside normal business hours, including nights and weekends as needed. This role works under the general guidance of a senior technician or IT professional.

What You'll Do

Install and maintain personal computers and networks, including all peripheral equipment
Install wiring and fiber optic cabling
Install and configure file servers, print servers, communications servers, network switches, desktop computers, and printers
Diagnose computer and network problems on-site or through help desk consultations with users
Coordinate with vendors to configure and troubleshoot routers, circuit issues, and third-party software applications
Upgrade computers and peripheral equipment
Test wiring and network connections
Maintain non-personal computer user interfaces, such as time and attendance keypads
Assist in testing new operating systems and software for compatibility with existing systems
Attend seminars and training to stay current with information technology trends

What You'll Need

Working knowledge of modern personal computers and local/wide area networks
Familiarity with installation procedures for computers, networks, peripherals, and software
Ability to evaluate equipment configuration requirements and install office computer systems
Ability to diagnose and help resolve computer and network problems
Strong ability to follow written and oral instructions and guide users on system use
Physical condition suited to the demands of the role

Education & Experience

One of the following is required:

Bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer science, information technology, or a related field, plus 1 year of full-time paid experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer systems and networks; or
Associate's degree in a related field plus 2 years of qualifying full-time paid experience.

Relevant college coursework or technical training programs may substitute for a portion of the required experience, provided documentation of successful completion is available.
Interested candidates should have a strong technical foundation and be comfortable working occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
