GENERAL INFORMATION
A. Briefly describe the purpose of the work unit. The Governor's Office of Information Technology exists to provide efficient, reliable and cost effective technology and information resource services to a wide customer base of agencies providing direct programs and services to Colorado citizens. The Client Network, Communications and Agency Security Operations work unit ensures that both Enterprise Wide Area Networks, Local Area Networks and agency security systems are designed, deployed, and managed to support the business functions.
In addition, this unit exists to provide the Colorado Department of with information technology (IT) support that is coordinated, integrated, and current. The group operates and maintains the network infrastructure including voice communications, video conferencing, data network, and wireless services. The group provides coordination between the State's information technology network infrastructure and other IT groups. Additionally, the group provides strategic and tactical planning with respect to technology implementations, policy, and project management for Division and Departmental projects.
The voice Network operations team provides operations support for voice/video/data/wireless network connectivity, supporting over 20,000 users statewide. The unit's work also encompasses planning and integration with the State of Colorado data network. Primary responsibilities of Network, Voice Unit include:
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of the SOC voice/video/data wide-area network and legacy systems
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of statewide voice over internet protocol (VOIP) systems
- Sophisticated analyses and configurations for Voice network hardware and software;
- Maintenance of physical- voice over internet protocol (VOIP) systems and Video
- Supporting users with phone, and video conferencing services;
- Maintaining equipment for voice, and video services availability;
- Maintaining, and monitoring of voice network security under State of Colorado policies,
- Maintain and do adds moves and changes on the copper wire plant at SOC sites.
B. Describe any staffing or organizational changes related to this position. The position is now part of a Governor's Office of Information Technology (Client) network team that is responsible for VOIP phone and video management and operations. This unit works with the Client Enterprise network team to support Enterprise network initiatives and technology standards.
C. Briefly summarize the purpose of this position. This position provides technical network communications support. The position possesses functional knowledge pertinent to VoIP phone network (LAN/WAN/Network) communications technologies and is a contributor for the testing, implementing, and maintaining of new equipment. Equipment may include but is not limited to routers, switches, wireless access points and controllers, and VoIP technologies.

This position exists as a VoIP/Video Engineer for the Voice Network Operations team. The position primary duties are Voice operations and to provide inventory and asset management, also process tickets and assign to proper groups. .This position is considered entry level. This position will also help maintain the TEMS system.
