- Weekday Evenings: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM (flexible weekdays based on provider availability and clinic needs)
- Saturdays: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate PRN Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our growing outpatient neurology team. This position is designed to improve patient access through extended evening and weekend clinic hours while providing high-quality, evidence-based neurological care. The APP will evaluate and manage patients with a variety of neurological conditions, including stroke, migraine, and general neurological disorders, in collaboration with our board-certified neurologists.
Primary Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with common neurological conditions in an outpatient setting.
- Provide care for patients with:
- Stroke and secondary stroke prevention
- Migraine and headache disorders
- General neurology conditions including neuropathy, dizziness, tremor, seizure follow-up, memory concerns, multiple sclerosis follow-up, and movement disorders as appropriate.
- Order and interpret diagnostic testing including laboratory studies and neuroimaging.
- Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing current evidence-based guidelines.
- Prescribe medications and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated.
- Provide patient and family education regarding neurological conditions, medications, lifestyle modifications, and prevention strategies.
- Coordinate care with neurologists, primary care providers, therapists, and other specialists.
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support departmental goals for patient access and satisfaction.
Qualifications
Required
- Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Current North Carolina NP or PA license (or eligibility).
- DEA registration.
- Current BLS certification.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
Preferred
- Previous experience in neurology, stroke, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, family medicine, or internal medicine.
- Experience managing migraine and headache disorders.
- Experience with outpatient neurological care.
Schedule & Flexibility
This PRN role is ideal for providers seeking supplemental clinical hours. Providers may choose available weekday evening shifts (Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM–8:00 PM) based on mutual availability and department needs, along with optional Saturday clinics (8:00 AM–1:00 PM).
