Neurosurgery OR Support- Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - Piedmont Athens Hospital

Overview:

Piedmont Healthcare is recruiting for an Advanced Practice Provider to join an established Neurosurgery practice at Piedmont Athens Hospital.  This position is full-time, 5 days a week,  including rotations with established APP's for weeknight and weekend call. This is a hybrid role serving as a First Assist in the OR, hospital rounding, and seeing patients in the clinic. 

Responsibilities:

• First Assist with hospital rounding, consults, and patient discharges
• Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations and record data in patient’s medical record in ambulatory practice. Clinical responsibilities require thorough attention to detail.
• Evaluate and treat patients to achieve optimal patient care.
• Write progress notes; prepare patient work-ups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
• Develop plans of care that minimize complications and successfully troubleshoot problems when they arise. Apply preventative and alternative treatment strategies for possible procedural complications.
• Complete pre-op appointments for all surgical patients, work with supervising physician to ensure all required labs, clearances and testing is satisfactorily complete well before surgery.
• Manage first call on a rotating basis, typically one 3 day weekend in 7 and 2-4 additional weeknight call shifts per month

Qualifications:

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

1-2 years of Neurosurgical or surgical experience with a high degree of clinical judgment and experience serving as the First Assist in the OR.
