At NorthBay Health, the Neurosurgical Physician Assistant (PA) plays a key role in delivering exceptional patient care across the continuum of neurosurgical services. This position provides comprehensive assessment, evaluation, treatment, and care coordination for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings while collaborating closely with a highly skilled neurosurgical team.
Become part of an established and expanding neurosurgery practice consisting of three neurosurgeons supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team. The practice focuses on approximately 80% spine and 20% cranial neurosurgery, offering exposure to a broad range of complex and rewarding cases.

Schedule
- Rotating 4-day, 10-hour schedule
- 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- No nights

Position Overview
The Neurosurgical PA is responsible for assessing and managing selected patients within the neurosurgery service line. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive histories and physical examinations, developing and implementing treatment plans, coordinating care across settings, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience aligned with established quality standards.
Clinical responsibilities include:
- Independent inpatient and outpatient patient evaluations
- Pre-operative, post-operative, and hospital follow-up clinics
- Collaborative clinics alongside neurosurgeons
- First assisting in the operating room
- Patient education and counseling
- Care coordination across the continuum of care
- Documentation and communication with interdisciplinary teams
- Clinical environments include:
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Operating Room (OR)
- Step-Down Unit
- Medical/Surgical Units
- Surgery Center
- Outpatient Neurosurgery Clinic
Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program approved by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Licensure & Certifications
- Current California Physician Assistant license
- NCCPA Board Certification
- Current DEA registration with Schedule II authority
- Current AHA BLS/CPR certification (or equivalent)
Experience
- Previous experience as a Surgical Physician Assistant in a related specialty preferred, or completion of a Neurosciences internship at NorthBay Health
- Ability to assess and evaluate patients' physical and emotional needs
- Experience providing age-appropriate care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical records; Cerner/Epic experience preferred
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $85.43 - $103.82 per hour
Compensation is determined based on directly related years of experience and NorthBay Health's structured compensation framework.
