New Accounts Representative

Location: Brea, CA
Duration: 4-month contract
Pay Rate: $35.97/hr W2

Job Summary:
The New Accounts Representative supports branch operations by opening and servicing consumer and business accounts, processing teller transactions, resolving customer inquiries, and identifying cross-sell opportunities. The role requires strong knowledge of banking products, new account documentation, branch operations, and applicable banking regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Open and service checking, savings, IRA, CD, and other consumer/business accounts.
  • Interview customers, verify identification, collect required documentation, and complete account setup.
  • Process account changes, transfers, supersedes, deposits, withdrawals, and other teller transactions.
  • Operate a cash drawer and accurately handle currency, checks, night drops, courier, and mail transactions.
  • Explain interest rates, fees, bank policies, products, and services to customers.
  • Resolve complex customer issues, investigate errors, and provide effective customer service.
  • Identify customer needs and cross-sell appropriate banking products and services.
  • Support daily branch reports, audits, ICRP certifications, callbacks, filing, scanning, and record updates.
  • Follow dual-control, security, operational, and state/federal banking compliance requirements.
  • Provide guidance to BSR staff and communicate training or service concerns to management.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Business or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of new accounts experience within a bank or financial institution.
  • Background in branch operations, banking sales, or financial customer service.
  • Knowledge of new account documentation, including fiduciary and corporate accounts.
  • Understanding of retail/commercial banking products and state/federal banking regulations.
  • Experience with account-opening systems, mainframe systems, MS Office, and spreadsheets.
  • Strong communication, organizational, mathematical, typing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle complex customer situations and work independently with general supervision.
