New Business Developer IT Staffing
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced New Business Developer IT Staffing to drive new client acquisition and revenue growth within the IT staffing and technology consulting industry.
This is a business development / sales position, not a recruiting role. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying prospective clients, developing relationships with key decision-makers, generating new staffing opportunities, negotiating agreements, and converting prospects into active accounts.
Previous sales and business development experience specifically within the IT staffing industry is required. Candidates should have a demonstrated track record of selling IT staffing, contract staffing, staff augmentation, or related technology workforce solutions to corporate clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, and develop new clients for IT staffing and staff augmentation services.
- Build and manage a pipeline of qualified business opportunities through cold outreach, referrals, networking, LinkedIn, industry events, and other business development channels.
- Establish relationships with CIOs, CTOs, IT Directors, Procurement leaders, HR/Talent Acquisition teams, MSPs, and other decision-makers responsible for technology staffing.
- Conduct discovery meetings to understand clients' technology environments, workforce needs, hiring challenges, and upcoming projects.
- Present IT staffing and consulting solutions tailored to each client's requirements.
- Generate new requisitions and staffing opportunities for technical positions across infrastructure, software development, cloud, cybersecurity, data, ERP, ServiceNow, project management, and other IT disciplines.
- Negotiate bill rates, margins, contractual terms, and staffing agreements.
- Work with recruiting and delivery teams to ensure client requirements are clearly communicated and appropriately prioritized.
- Maintain relationships with new clients after account activation to identify additional opportunities and expand account revenue.
- Develop relationships with organizations utilizing MSP/VMS staffing programs and identify opportunities to participate in preferred-vendor programs.
- Maintain accurate records of prospects, opportunities, client activity, and sales pipeline within the company's CRM/ATS.
- Meet or exceed established new-business, revenue, gross-margin, and account-development goals.
- Monitor market conditions, client hiring trends, competitive activity, and demand for technology talent.
Required Qualifications
- Previous IT staffing sales/business development experience is required.
- Minimum 3+ years of successful sales or business development experience within the IT staffing, technology staffing, staff augmentation, or IT consulting industry preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new accounts from prospecting through contract execution and initial job orders.
- Proven experience selling contract staffing, contract-to-hire, direct-hire, staff augmentation, or technology consulting solutions.
- Existing relationships or professional network among IT, procurement, HR, talent acquisition, or technology decision-makers is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of the IT staffing sales cycle, including prospecting, discovery, proposal development, rate negotiations, contracts, client onboarding, and account expansion.
- Familiarity with IT roles and technology skill sets, including software development, infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, data, ERP, and related disciplines.
- Experience working with MSP/VMS environments is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated and comfortable operating in a highly outbound, new-business-focused sales environment.
- Ability to independently manage a sales pipeline and consistently follow up with prospective clients.
- Experience using CRM/ATS platforms and professional prospecting tools such as LinkedIn.
What Success Looks Like
The successful New Business Developer will consistently build a qualified pipeline, establish relationships with new organizations, convert prospects into active clients, generate new IT staffing requisitions, and grow profitable staffing revenue.
Important: This position requires prior experience selling IT staffing or closely related technology workforce solutions. General B2B sales experience without relevant IT staffing industry experience will not, by itself, meet the requirements for this role.
