What we are looking for:
Education
Bachelor''''s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a closely related discipline from a recognized university.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or the ability to obtain registration, is considered an asset.
Experience
Less than two (2) years of relevant experience.
Experience gained through academic projects, co-op placements, internships, research activities, or project work related to robotics, automation, software development, or systems integration.
Experience with one or more of the following areas is considered an asset:
Robotics Operating System (ROS/ROS2).
Python and/or C++.
Autonomous navigation.
Computer vision.
Sensor fusion.
Machine learning and artificial intelligence applications.
Teleoperation systems.
Mobile robotics.
SLAM and mapping technologies.
Embedded systems.
Digital twin technologies.
Data visualization and processing.
UAVs and autonomous platforms.
Knowledge of radiological operations, remote sensing, or nuclear facility environments is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles to robotics, automation, software development, or systems integration projects through academic, research, co-op, or project experience.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated creativity and innovation in developing technical solutions to complex challenges.
Proven ability to learn, adapt, and apply emerging technologies in a rapidly evolving environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and collaborative project environments.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Proven ability to work independently on assigned technical tasks while seeking guidance when appropriate.
Demonstrated ability to support the development, integration, testing, and deployment of technical solutions.
Working knowledge of robotic, autonomous, remote-operated, and digital technologies and their industrial applications.
Demonstrated understanding of decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste management, or nuclear technology applications is considered an asset.
Working knowledge of safety-critical or highly regulated environments is considered an asset.
Awareness of emerging trends in robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, and remote handling technologies.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required
Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat''''s "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."
