The NPD Engineer is responsible for multiple projects driving profitable growth. Projects will vary depending on size and scope, requiring flexibility and tailored project management solutions. This role will include direct interaction with a broad range of internal senior, technical and functional leadership as well as our customers' teams.This is an onsite opportunity based in Winsted, MN.Job Title: New Product Development EngineerLocation: onsite in Winsted, MNSalary Range:$88,000 - $110,000 per year (Exempt)(In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.)Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday - Friday Business HoursShift Differential: 1st shift - N/AAs a New Product Development Engineer, you will:Develop and execute project plans for new productsAchieve approval of APL, QPL, and specified productsEnsure market requirements are established and attainedSupport market growth through innovative solutionsResponsible for day-to-day management of the project team as well as communication with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure successful project execution is metEnsure that projects are on schedule, on scope and on budgetLead project teams to ensure the quality of project deliverables match the business strategyIdentify risks (cost, schedule) to project deliverables, clearly communicate those risks to stakeholders and develop plans to minimize those risksSubmit capital investment requests with supporting business case justifications and drive the execution of capital projectsDesign scale up equipment to meet safety, quality, and functionality based on input from customersEngage with sales team for process requirementsCollaborate with manufacturing to ensure equipment is reliable and meets quality and cost targetsThis activity includes design for manufacturability for new products as well as enhancements to existing equipmentSupport transition of design concepts, detailed design and product release information to manufacturing partners (internal or external)Provide ongoing technical/engineering oversight to manufacturing partners (internal and external)Success will be measured by:Results driven - drive projects to performance in a timely mannerProfessionalism, integrity and high degree of accountabilityAccountability for the timeline to ensure commitments are honoredCost reduction of components with an aim to limit product variation when possibleTime to resolve quality issueInfluence teams to develop creative solutions to technical problemsStrong communication skills up, down, and across the organization with project teams, stakeholders, and senior leadershipAccountability for the timeline to ensure commitments are honoredRole Qualifications as a New Product Development Engineer:Preferred candidates will have Bachelors degree in engineering and 5+ years of experience OR equivalent combination of education and 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting.A strong understanding of project management principles and software tools; PMP certification is a plus.Strong financial skills a plusSubject matter expert in welding and steel technologySubject matter expert in mechanics, electronics and equipment controlsMaintain broad knowledge of product design, manufacture and assembly techniques.Strong organizational skillsAbility and willingness to take a "hands-on" approach to meeting project scope and timing including assisting project team members in completion of deliverables as neededComputer literate; particularly in word processing, spreadsheet, emailRead and interpret customer specifications and industry standardsAbility to solve practical problems and make decisionsEffective and appropriate verbal and written communication skillsWork with others as part of a high-performance teamAdapt to changing work prioritiesWhy Millerbernd and Who We Are:We strive to create the best opportunities for our employees.
