SUMMARY
The Ski & Snowboard Instructor role provides direct ski or snowboarding instruction to guests in various formats (group, 1-on-1) and terrains. The Ski & Snowboard instructor participates in teambuilding and skill building exercises and actively maintains and/or improves their instructing credentials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
Provide friendly and welcoming service to guests of all ages and skill levels
Delivering high-quality, professional instruction to guests
Responsible for the safety and learning of students in lessons
Actively utilize WhenToWork scheduling app to stay aware of schedule and maintain good attendance
Be aware of and follow all resort and department policies/procedures
Ability to work outdoors in the winter mountain environment
Active participation in trainings throughout the season (ongoing, in-house, PSIA/AASI)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

You must have your own ski/ride equipment including helmet (which we can help with) and complete on-snow and off-snow training at the start of the season. Instructors must be energetic, passionate, hardworking, support the mission of the resort and follow the company's policies and procedures.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic computer skills are needed to utilize the scheduling and attendance systems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
PSIA Certification is preferred.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are an essential part of this position. Must be able to interact cooperatively with all other departments. As an instructor (especially full-timers) it is beneficial for you and the school if you can teach both snowboarding and skiing.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
RESORT CONDITIONS
This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
