    The New Student Programs Graduate Student Assistant will assist in the behind-the-scenes planning and logistics of 15 one-day in-person orientation programs for 2000 new students and their family members. Assistants will gain experience in assisting with the planning and execution of in-person New Sycamore Orientation programming.

    Job Duties

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Design recruitment and hiring processes for student staff (orientation leader, orientation office staff and transition mentors).
    • Aid in the design and implementation of our New Sycamore Orientation and New Sycamore Welcome programs with focus on populations including first-year, transfer, international, online students, and families.
    • Help to develop and facilitate student leader training for New Sycamore Orientation and New Sycamore Welcome.
    • Assist in the creation and management of assessment to measure orientation leader learning outcomes, family and student orientation experiences, and other assessments as needed.
    • Work collaboratively with campus partners in the development of programs to assist students in their transition to the institution.
    • Assist with Commuter Life programs to help first-year commuter students transition successfully with events such as the Housing Fair, Surviving Adulting, Commuter Challenge, and more.
    • Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings and meetings with campus partners.
    • Support various administrative functions with the Office of New Student Programs.
    • Additional projects based on passion, areas of interest, and development with special populations.
    • Collaborate on new student and family communications through multiple mediums including web development, social media, email, and text.
    • Involvement in recruitment events including meeting with prospective students and families.
    • Participate in regular professional development opportunities.
    • Special projects as assigned by supervisor.
