    This assignment posting is for an Agency Worker opportunity with People Inc. The Agency Worker is paid by a staffing agency employer. Agency Workers will receive a W2 from the staffing agency reporting their earnings for tax purposes.

    People Inc. is looking for a remote News Updates Editor to write timely content for Martha Stewart, with the opportunity to work on other People Inc. brands. As a News Updates Editor, you will pitch, report, and write timely news stories, working within our CMS to submit copy for publication. Successful candidates will be passionate about food, grocery, home, and lifestyle content, with a strong interest in covering grocery store news, product launches, and consumer trends from retailers such as Aldi, Trader Joe's, and Costco. The ideal candidate is comfortable producing quick-turn stories, identifying emerging trends, and adapting to a variety of editorial assignments.

    While much of the work will focus on grocery store and food news, editors may also be assigned stories covering home, entertaining, gardening, seasonal trends, and other lifestyle topics. Candidates should have morning availability in the Eastern Time Zone and be able to commit to 10-15 hours of work per week. 

    The rate of pay for this role is $25/hour. Applicants must live in the United States.

    Assignment Responsibilities: 

    • Pitch, report, and write timely news stories for publication on MarthaStewart.com, with a focus on food, grocery, home, and lifestyle trends.

    • Monitor emerging news, retailer announcements, product launches, and social trends to identify story opportunities.

    • Research and perform revisions, updates, and rewrites to content as needed according to specific project instructions and brand guidelines.

     

    Skills/Experience:

     

    • At least 3 years of experience writing or editing for home and lifestyle brands, preferably for a digital brand or magazine.

    • Editorial background covering food, home, lifestyle, retail, or consumer topics, with experience producing quick-turn news content.

    • Strong writing and editing skills, with an ability to adopt an established brand voice and adhere to style guidelines.

    • Comfortable with content management systems.

    • Detail-oriented and able to work efficiently, independently, and accurately.

    • Experience interviewing expert sources.

    • Bachelor’s degree required.

    • Comfortable working remotely.

    • Access to a smartphone, computer (not a tablet), and a secure internet connection.
