Physician Assistant - Breast Surgery

Position Highlights:
UW Health in northern Illinois is seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant to join our growing Breast Surgery team. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside a fellowship-trained breast surgeon in a comprehensive breast care program that emphasizes personalized, evidence-based care for patients with both benign and malignant breast conditions.

As part of our multidisciplinary approach, you'll collaborate with medical and radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons, radiologists, and nurse navigators to provide seamless, patient-centered care from diagnosis through survivorship.

Your clinical support includes:
Conducting pre- and post-operative evaluations, including physical assessments and review of diagnostic imaging.
• Assisting in the operating room for surgical procedures such as lumpectomy, mastectomy, and sentinel lymph node biopsy.
• Managing post-operative follow-ups, including wound care, drain management, and patient education.
• Providing education, emotional support, and coordination of care for patients navigating complex diagnoses.
• Participating in multidisciplinary tumor board discussions and care planning.

• Coordinating care across specialties to ensure timely referrals, imaging, and treatment initiation.
• Supporting clinic efficiency through independent patient visits and timely documentation.

• Seeing patients with benign breast conditions and those who are at an increased risk for breast cancer

Qualifications:
• Current and valid Illinois license as a Physician Assistant (PA-C), or ability to obtain license prior to start.
• Certification by the NCCPA with prescriptive authority in Illinois.
• Surgical experience preferred; interest or prior exposure to breast surgery, oncology, or women's health is highly valued.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting.
• A patient-first mindset with a passion for compassionate, comprehensive care.
