Job Story:
The NIAR ATLAS lab is looking for a student assistant to help with testing and data analysis.
Job Summary:
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties:
- Assist in setting up and conducting composite mechanical testing and data analysis in accordance with standardized procedures.
- Capable of independently completing assigned tasks while ensuring clear and consistent communication with the supervisor and research teams.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Requirements:
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field in good academic standing with the university.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical testing principles.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
- Fundamental knowledge of core engineering principles relevant to the position (e.g., mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, etc.).
- Capable of performing duties that involve standing and walking as part of the workday.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience/ Familiarity with CATIA V5, 3DX, MATLAB or similar software/programs
- Creative problem-solving ability
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators.
- Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
