Job Story
The NIAR Composites & Structures lab is looking for a student assistant to work with experienced engineers in the field of material science and scientific research.

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
The student will work with experienced engineers in the field of material science and scientific research.
Performance testing of metals and polymers.
Data collection, correlation, interpretation and analysis.
Follow industry test method like ASTM and ISO.
Sample preparation for testing, conditioning, operating analytical instrument.
Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation.

Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent

Additional Requirements
Undergraduate or graduate students majoring in Chemistry, Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.

Additional Information
Handling Hazardous materials.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Position requires climbing and lifting.

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
