Job Story
The NIAR Composites & Structures lab is looking for a student assistant to work with experienced engineers in the field of material science and scientific research.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
- Performance testing of metals and polymers.
- Data collection, correlation, interpretation, and analysis.
- Follow industry test methods like ASTM and ISO.
- Sample preparation for testing, conditioning, and operating analytical instruments.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Requirements
- Undergraduate or graduate students majoring in Chemistry, Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.

- The position requires climbing and lifting.
