Troutbeck is a unique resort nestled in the Hudson Valley — offering a tranquil setting, sophisticated hospitality, and the chance to be part of a team committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences. As the Overnight Audit, you will play a key role in both the guest journey and the resort's operational backbone.

Summary

The Overnight Audit plays a dual role: providing excellent guest service overnight and conducting financial and front desk audit functions to ensure the resort’s daily operations close smoothly. This person serves as the overnight representative of Troutbeck, takes ownership of guest needs during the shift, and ensures that all financial, administrative, and security processes are completed accurately and on time.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist guests arriving or checking out during the overnight hours (check-in, check-out, late arrivals, early departures)
  • Answer phones, respond to guest inquiries and requests, handle guest issues or emergencies, and escalate when needed
  • Perform night audit/accounting functions: reconcile all cash, credit card, room revenue, food & beverage charges (if applicable), and house accounts
  • Run and review daily reports: room revenue, tax reporting, food & beverage revenue (if relevant), city ledger, group/resort activities, etc.
  • Operate the property management system (PMS) and/or accounting systems to close the business day, roll over to the next day, and ensure data integrity
  • Record room statistics, occupancy, arrivals/departures, no-shows, late check-outs; update logs and spreadsheets
  • Conduct security rounds of public spaces, guest corridors, and exterior areas to ensure a safe environment; report any maintenance or safety issues
  • Maintain the front-office logbook, shift hand-off notes, and ensure a smooth transition to the next shift
  • Assist in restocking front-desk supplies, re-setting printers, preparing express check-out folios, and other general administrative tasks
  • Uphold the resort’s quality, service, and cleanliness standards, with a warm and guest-focused demeanor

Qualifications & Skills

  • High?school diploma or equivalent required; some college/hospitality coursework preferred
  • Prior experience (1+ years) in a hotel/resort front-desk or night audit setting preferred
  • Strong math and accounting skills; ability to reconcile financials, prepare reports, and identify discrepancies
  • Comfortable working independently overnight, with minimal direct supervision
  • Excellent guest-service and communication skills: able to handle guest requests and resolve issues professionally
  • Proficiency with computers: PMS, POS systems, Microsoft?Office (especially Excel), ability to run reports, and learn internal systems
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail; able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stay composed under pressure, respond to emergencies, and maintain security awareness
  • Flexible schedule: nights, weekends, holidays as required
  • Neat personal appearance and professionalism; ability to maintain confidentiality

Physical & Other Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shift
  • Ability to perform rounds (stairs/hallways) and conduct light physical tasks (e.g., lift to 25 lbs, reach, bend)
  • Must be able to read/respond to alerts, walk property for safety checks, and handle front-desk operations

Working Conditions / Schedule

  • Overnight shift (e.g., approximately 11:00?pm–7:00?am; may vary)
  • Some weekend, holiday, and seasonal work required
  • Quiet overnight environment with intermittent guest arrivals, check-outs, guest issues, and auditing tasks

Compensation & Benefits (customize for Troutbeck)

  • Hourly wage experience
  • Benefits package (if applicable): e.g., health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), PTO, employee discounts, meal privileges, lodging (if provided)
  • Opportunities for training and advancement in resort operations
