The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the front desk operations during overnight hours while completing daily financial and accounting procedures for the hotel. This role combines guest service responsibilities with accounting duties, ensuring accurate financial records and providing excellent customer service to guests.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Services
- Check guests in and out during overnight shifts.
- Respond to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints professionally.
- Answer phone calls and assist with reservations.
- Provide information about hotel services, amenities, and local attractions.
- Ensure guest satisfaction and maintain a safe, secure environment.
Financial & Accounting Duties
- Reconcile daily room revenue, payments, and transactions.
- Balance cash drawers, credit card transactions, and other payment records.
- Prepare and distribute daily financial and occupancy reports.
- Verify the accuracy of guest accounts and billing information.
- Process end-of-day procedures and close out the property management system.
Operational Duties
- Conduct security walks and monitor hotel activity during overnight hours.
- Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and management regarding guest needs.
- Ensure the lobby and front desk areas remain organized and presentable.
- Handle emergency situations according to hotel policies.
- Maintain accurate records and logs of overnight activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or accounting coursework preferred.
- Previous hotel front desk, customer service, or accounting experience preferred.
- Basic accounting and bookkeeping knowledge.
- Proficiency with hotel property management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently on overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
