Required Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Requires no specialized experience or
specific expertise. One (1) year related experience and/or training preferred. Valid state driver's license.
General Description: The building custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the building so that students
and staff members can work and learn in an environment that is sanitary, clean, and orderly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Position requires working/driving to each site during night hours

Willingness to work flex hours during the night or day and/or over-time as needed
During wintertime when Sports Field House is not in use will assist with Cape Henlopen HS cleaning needs
Cleaning and Sanitation
Ensure building(s) and grounds are clean and ready to fulfill the various needs of students and staff members.
Provide a safe environment for student and staff by eliminating hazards
Cleaning of bathrooms, weight room sanitization, sports Field House, gang bathrooms, locker rooms, training room, coaches offices, breezeway
Dispose of trash and/or waste materials
Maintain a clean and tidy custodial closet
Respond to emergency calls for cleanup as needed
Focus Area: District Office/Auxiliary Weight Room/Cape Henlopen HS Sports Field House Bldg, and other areas as assigned
Maintenance
Maintain floors, walls, doors, windows, furniture and fixtures.
Report all incidents of damage or missing items to the buildings to the Chief Custodian
Ensure safe conditions on walks, driveways, and parking areas at all times, and may include snow removal.
Assist in loading and unloading supplies, equipment from carriers as assigned.
Maintain applicable equipment and ensure it is inspected regularly to assure safety and compliance.
Maintain appropriate inventories of maintenance supplies, materials, and equipment
District Office Grounds duties include weeding, maintaining shrubbery, adding mulch, and clearing stairwell drains.
Physical Demands
Continuous moderate effort or physical activity required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to frequently climb, crawl, and kneel. Frequently carry or move objects more than 25 pounds and occasionally move objects of up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
The employee will regularly work indoors and occasionally work outdoors, possibly in adverse weather conditions, in outdoor duties as assigned.
