Austin Achieve Public Schools is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school dedicated to preparing Austin youth for success at the nation's leading colleges and universities. As a part of the Facilities team, the Night Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our campuses. By maintaining our facilities effectively, they contribute to creating an environment where Austin Achieve scholars can come to school prepared to learn and thrive.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily Operations
- Perform general building maintenance tasks, including but not limited to:
- Replacing floor tiles, light bulbs, ballasts, pencil sharpeners, and ceiling tiles.
- Conducting thermostat repairs, door closure repairs, door hardware repairs, window panel replacement, and installation of items as required.
- Repairing miscellaneous equipment.
- Conduct general plumbing repairs, such as:
- Clearing clogged sinks, drains, and waste lines.
- Replacing operational parts.
- Repairing water coolers, water heaters, and associated components.
- Undertake general electrical repairs, including:
- Replacing receptacles, switches, and relays.
- Resetting breakers, replacing cord caps, and light switches.
- Utilizing schematics and drawings to identify and address electrical issues.
- Regular review of Incident IQ for Work Orders.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks throughout all campuses.
- Adhere to all applicable health and safety regulations, policies, and established work practices.
- Install or remove school equipment such as bulletin boards, hooks, etc.
- Complete any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to work overtime, holidays, evenings, or weekends as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- A valid Texas Driver's License is required.
- General knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems is required.
- Proficiency in General Craftsmanship preferred.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Proficiency in driving a truck with a trailer, including the ability to pull and back trailers.
- Proficiency in Spanish communication is desirable.
- Proficiency in operating all school maintenance equipment.
- Possession of a cellular or electronic device capable of operating our Work Order (WO) System is necessary. (Incident IQ)
- Successful completion of a fingerprinting background check is required.

Required Experience:
- Minimum two years of Facility Maintenance experience (preferably in a school setting).
