POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the safe operation of the Extrusion presses. Checks for correctness of the metal dimensions and ensures that the metal extrusion speed is at its maximum.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
- Operate press at highest speed for production, while ensuring no damage to the product. Adjust speed accordingly.
- Maintain proper temperature on furnace to heat aluminum billets.
- Change temperature on furnace for different alloys of billets and dies for production.
- Assist press foreman in checking extrusion for breaks and surface quality.
- Responsible for proper billet counts on weight needed.
- Check press for any damages occurring during use.
- Assist maintenance personnel if any downtime occurs.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
HS Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
One (1) year of Extrusion press operation
Special Skills Required:
Ability to read and write.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift/carry reports and materials up to 50 pounds.
- Move about the plant and office.
- Turn on and operate a press and various equipment in the applicable environment.
- Communicate efficiently and effectively in person.
- Complete required paperwork.
- Work in a heated environment.
Required to wear all appropriate PPE if you are required to go out to the line for any reason, including safety glasses, earplugs, and gloves.
