Night Shift Supervisor

Department: Clinical Services
Reports To: Wellness Director

Position Summary

The Night Shift Supervisor provides leadership and oversight of the overnight team to ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and quality care in accordance with their individualized care plans. This position is responsible for supervising and training staff, maintaining compliance with state regulations and company policies, ensuring complete and accurate documentation, and promoting continuity of care between shifts.

The ideal candidate is responsible, reliable, organized, and confident in leading a team while serving as a positive role model for others.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise and support all overnight CNAs and Medication Aides.

  • Lead, coach, and hold staff accountable for performance and resident care.

  • Ensure adequate staffing and assignment completion throughout the shift.

  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, and resident-centered care.

Training

  • Train and mentor all newly hired CNAs and Medication Aides on night shift.

  • Ensure staff are competent in resident care, documentation, safety procedures, infection control, and company policies.

  • Report training progress or performance concerns to the Wellness Director.

Resident Care

  • Ensure care is provided according to each resident's Service Plan and Care Plan.

  • Verify staff complete scheduled rounds, toileting, repositioning, hygiene, and other required care.

  • Monitor residents for changes in condition and report concerns promptly.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure charting and documentation are complete, accurate, and submitted before the end of each shift.

  • Monitor compliance with state regulations, company policies, infection control standards, and resident rights.

  • Immediately report suspected abuse, neglect, injuries, incidents, or safety concerns.

Communication

  • Report resident, staff, equipment, maintenance, and building concerns to the Wellness Director.

  • Communicate significant resident changes and overnight events to ensure continuity of care between shifts.

Safety & Quality

  • Conduct routine building and resident safety rounds.

  • Ensure emergency equipment, security systems, and exits are functioning properly.

  • Monitor quality of care and assist with maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant environment.

Qualifications

  • Current Oklahoma CNA certification required.

  • Medication Aide certification preferred.

  • Previous leadership experience preferred.

  • Experience working with residents living with dementia preferred.

  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain upon hire.

Performance Expectations

The Night Shift Supervisor is expected to lead by example, maintain a high standard of resident care, ensure staff accountability, complete thorough oversight of documentation and resident care, communicate effectively with leadership, and foster a culture of safety, teamwork, professionalism, and compliance.
