The role

This position is responsible for safely and accurately handling and recording materials from reception of through issuance. The position is also responsible for safely loading the correct product and correct amount of product onto the designated truck and filling out all sections of the load sheet correctly. Individuals in this position also make sure all products are in perfect condition before receiving or shipping.

What you'll be responsible for

WAREHOUSE:

  • Accurately set up for production line startup and record issued supplies onto pick slips.
  • Respond when machine calls for materials and record materials supplied. Have materials set up in time for changeovers to different products.
  • Return unused materials at the end of the run, and accurately tally the results onto the pick slips. Take appropriate steps to ensure returned materials will remain free of contamination.
  • Be able to handle all warehouse functions including unloading trucks, stocking floor, accurately counting, and recording inventory, keeping area clean, and hauling materials from outside warehouse.
  • Other duties as assigned.

FREEZER:

  • Perform proper maintenance of freezer equipment to make sure it operates correctly and effectively and always operate equipment in a safe manner including following safety procedures for forklift operation.
  • Work positively with truck drivers but also ensure that they comply with all procedural requirements.
  • Ensure prior to loading that: (a) driver has load numbers which match with our loading appointment times, (b) temperatures of trailer is at least minus ten degrees, (c) trailer is chocked correctly and the floor of the trailer is safe, and (d) trailer is clean and odor free.
  • Perform a non-destructive temperature pulp on product in nose, mid and tail of trailer being loaded.
  • Be able to handle all functions of the freezer including line stacking, wrapping, loading, inventory counts, figuring production, sorting pallets, pulping product, making loading appointments, cleaning, pulling samples and segregating product.
  • Be involved in continuous improvements to continuously improve overall plant performance.
  • Be able to perform any required Build App Standards and complete them on time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We're looking for someone who

  • Learn all functions of job within reasonable time.
  • Use math skills to calculate quantities accurately.
  • Have or be able to obtain CDL license or a valid Class E license.
  • Ability to learn to safely operate a fork truck and stand-up riders (Mules) with training.
  • Stoop, bend, and lift 50 lbs. regularly and 80 lbs. occasionally.
  • Handle 55-gallon drums of liquids with a hand truck.
  • Load and push supply carts holding 300 lbs. of materials.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
  • Experience/familiarity with layer ties, patterns, and cases per pallet.
  • Ability to pass applicant assessment testing for position.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions and to keep accurate written records.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft programs and/or basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to work various hours and shifts (i.e. 8-hour, 10hour, or 12-hour shifts).
  • Able to work overtime when required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)

Preferred

  • Previous experience with fork trucks and stand-up riders (Mules).
  • Experience or formal training in inventory control or warehouse management, loading trucks, temperature pulping, filling out paperwork, and inventory experience.
  • SAP P1P inventory management system experience.
  • Background of working in SAP and the use of scanning materials in an orderly fashion.
  • Understand basics of First in First Out rotation.

Working environment

Work is performed on the manufacturing floor or in the freezer/warehouse area. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery, cold temperatures, chemical exposure, noise, or heavy lifting. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time. PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection and sanitary footwear.
