Night Specialist -Pay range18.28-19.78 rangeAs a Direct Support Professional, you play an essential role in supporting individuals with developmental and other disabilities during evening and overnight hours. In this position, you provide personal care, guidance, and skill-building assistance across home, community, recreational, and day‑service environments on the overnight shift generally starting either 9p or 11p. Your work is directed by each person's Individualized Support Plan (ISP), ensuring that all services are delivered with respect, dignity, and a person‑centered focus.You help individuals build independence, pursue personal goals, and stay meaningfully engaged in their communities. Collaboration is a key component of the role-you will work closely with coworkers, supervisors, and other departments to maintain consistent, high‑quality support throughout all shifts. As a Night Specialist, you are expected to promote an inclusive environment that encourages belonging and community participation.Qualifications:EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED EXPERIENCE: Six months' successful work/volunteer experience with person(s) with Developmental disabilities preferred.LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Illinois Driver's license. Possess or acquire within first ninety days of employment, self-administration of medication training and maintain certification through retraining and annual recertification, as required. Possess or acquire within new hire training cycle, First Aid and C.P.R. certification, updating as required by licensing agency. Abilities: • Strong visual and auditory skills to observe, assist, and complete documentation and required forms. • Basic proficiency with digital tools such as tablets, smartphones, and related apps. • Sound judgment, reliability, and the ability to respond effectively in health or safety‑related situations. • Ability to write clear, accurate reports. • Effective teamwork and communication skills. • Willingness to learn and apply First Aid, CPR, and behavior‑management strategies. • Physical ability to safely intervene during behavioral emergencies. • Clear, confident verbal communication in English, with openness to alternative communication methods.
