Position Overview

New Market Elementary School is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and collaborative Special Education Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year. In this role, you will be instrumental in creating an inclusive, supportive, and effective learning environment tailored to the unique needs of our exceptional students.

The ideal candidate is passionate about student growth, highly skilled in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and energized by collaborating with general education teachers, specialists, and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • IEP Management: Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive IEPs based on individual student data, ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Instructional Delivery: Plan and deliver differentiated, data-driven instruction in both resource and co-teaching/inclusion settings to meet diverse academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Assessment & Progress Monitoring: Administer formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress; utilize data to guide instruction and modify goals.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with general education teachers, therapists, administrators, and support staff to ensure accommodation fidelity and student success across all environments.
  • Family Engagement: Maintain open, proactive communication with parents and guardians, leading IEP meetings with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
  • Behavior Management: Implement positive behavior intervention strategies (PBIS) and cultivate a classroom culture rooted in respect, safety, and encouragement.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field.
  • Certification: Valid State Teaching Certification in Special Education (Elementary/K-6 endorsement preferred).
  • Skills: Strong understanding of IDEA regulations, the IEP process, and assistive technologies.
  • Proven ability to analyze student data and adapt curriculum accordingly.
  • Exceptional organizational, time-management, and interpersonal communication skills.
