Nocturnist /Nighttime Hospitalist — FTE (Direct Hire) Location: Hilton Head, South Carolina Employment Type: Full-time, Direct Hire, Night Shift
About the Role We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Nighttime Hospitalist to join a collaborative inpatient team at a community hospital in Hilton Head, SC. This full-time, direct-hire role focuses on nighttime inpatient coverage, urgent clinical decision-making, and safe transitions of care during overnight hours.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive inpatient care for adult medical patients during night shifts.
Admit, evaluate, manage, and discharge patients in accordance with hospital protocols.
Triage and manage emergent inpatient issues, coordinate urgent consults, and stabilize patients overnight.
Communicate effectively with daytime teams, consultants, nursing staff, and case management to ensure seamless transitions.
Document timely and accurate clinical notes and meet hospital quality and patient-safety metrics.
Participate in nocturnist-led quality improvement initiatives and on-call coordination as required.
Schedule & Practice Model
Nighttime schedule (typical shift times and frequency can be specified by employer; e.g., 7p–7a or 8p–8a).
Full-time clinical FTE with potential for flexible scheduling
Primarily on-site night coverage; limited or no daytime responsibilities.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree.
Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine (Hospital Medicine or nocturnist experience preferred).
Active or eligible for medical licensure in South Carolina.
Current BLS and ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain).
Strong clinical decision-making and triage skills; excellent communication and teamwork.
Experience with EHR documentation preferred.
