The job of Van Driver
The job of Van Driver is done for the purpose of transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions, ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading, and unloading from vans.
Essential Functions
• Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior • Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents, and/or potential emergency situations • Assists students and other passengers, attends meetings, trainings, etc. • Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior, conducts emergency evacuation drills • Drives school vans • Fuels assigned vehicle, e.g., oil, water, fuel, etc. • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc. • Prepares documents and reports, e.g., field trip reports, incident reports, inspections, records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc. • Reports observations and/or incidents, e.g., discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc. • Responds to inquires, e.g., students, parents, other school personnel, etc. • Supervises students and other passengers during transit • Assists other personnel as may be required
Qualifications
Experience desired:
Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English
Working Hours: 25 - 40 hours depending on route This is a 10-month position.
