PURPOSE OF POSITION: The truck driver is responsible for the transport of clean linen from Hospital Cooperative Laundry to the customer and retrieval of soiled linen and containers from the customer back to the HCL.
JOB DUTIES:
Load carts/baskets of clean linen onto truck and secure to protect carts and linen from movement while in transit.
Unload carts/baskets of linen at designated hospital/clinic and move them to designated area(s). Check all soiled holding areas for soil and load truck to maximum capacity with cards/baskets of soiled linen. Check aisles, rooms, hallways for empty carts/baskets and return all of them to the laundry when appropriate.
Upon arrival at the plant, immediately unload the soiled carts and scan the bar code, that will record information into the computer. Some hospitals may send COG (Customer OwnGoods) specialty linen to be processed. The COG items are in a special container with a ticket. The carts containing this linen should be taken to the small wash Department for processing, along with the correct ticket that must be recorded in the COG book.
When the truck has been emptied of soil, you need to blow the interior of box truck/trailer with the blower provided. Then move the Box truck/trailer to the clean side and prepare to load the next delivery.
Verify shipment against the manifest prepared by shipper. Obtain approval of complete shipment from shipper prior to departure. Prior to departure, have the manifest initialed by shipper and complete your portion of the manifest and initial.
All routes have a time of department/arrival schedule. The schedule should be followed as closely as possible. Do not change the schedule sequence or time allotted. Any change should be approved of through a supervisor or Manager.
Assist in work at shipping, dock and cart make-up departments while waiting for load as well as on deliveries assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
Maintain a clean truck and inform Supervisor or Manager of any problems with trucks or equipment. Fuel trucks at approved locations when necessary.
Perform related duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager. This includes unexpected special deliveries or soiled linen pickup to various hospitals or clinics as needed.
Perform pre/post inspection and turn in with your daily paperwork.
Maintain daily communications with leads /management.

1. Must be able to read and speak English
2. Maintain a valid driver’s license
3. Annual MVR’s
4. Must be 21 years of age
5. Immediate accident reporting
