Job Description

Shift: Day 5x5-Hour (08:00 - 13:00)

Working Title: Radiology Didactic Trainer
Schedule: 20-25 hours per week
Onsite Mission Center Building

POSITION SUMMARY
The Didactic Instructor is responsible for didactic instruction within the 18-month program, teaching assigned didactic courses that build the cognitive foundation students need prior to laboratory and clinical competency. Working under the direction of the Program Director, the Didactic Instructor designs and delivers course content aligned with JRCERT Standards, ARRT content specifications, and current professional practice, and evaluates student learning using objective, equitable, and documented criteria. The Didactic Instructor contributes to curriculum currency, outcomes assessment, and the program's continuous-quality-improvement efforts, and supports the program mission of shaping clinically competent radiographers who think critically and communicate effectively.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The UCSF Radiologic Technologist Training & Leadership Academy is an 18-month, full-time entry-level radiography program, developed in partnership with City College of San Francisco (CCSF) and designed to prepare students for competent, compassionate entry-level practice as radiologic technologists. The program is organized across six consecutive 11-week terms (approximately 25–28 contact hours per week) and integrates asynchronous online coursework, weekly online meetings with instructors, face-to-face laboratory sessions, and supervised clinical rotations at five UCSF-affiliated imaging sites (UCSF Parnassus, Mission Bay, Mt. Zion, Health Hyde Medical Center, and Health Stanyan Medical Center). The curriculum is structured to develop clinical competence, critical thinking, effective communication, and professionalism, and is grounded in the resources of one of the world's leading academic medical centers. The program is pursuing accreditation from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and approval from the California Department of Public Health, Radiologic Health Branch (RHB); upon completion, graduates are eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination in radiography [R.T.(R)]. Faculty build a foundation of knowledge and skill in didactic and laboratory courses before students demonstrate competency in the clinical setting, and all faculty responsibilities are clearly delineated to support the program's mission and JRCERT accreditation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of radiographic science content, including positioning/procedures, radiation physics and protection, image production, and patient care.
Knowledge of JRCERT Standards and ARRT content specifications as they apply to didactic instruction and student assessment.
Understanding of adult-learning theory, instructional design, competency-based education, and assessment design.
Skill in developing course materials, delivering engaging instruction, and evaluating student learning with objective, documented criteria.
Effective written and oral communication skills suitable for classroom instruction, student interaction, and program reporting.
Ability to advise and support students and to identify and address academic difficulty early.
Ability to analyze course outcomes data and translate findings into instructional improvements.
Proficiency with standard office software, learning-management systems, and educational technology platforms.

Education:
Associate's degree in radiologic technology or a related field (or equivalent experience / training).

Licenses/Certifications:
Current, unrestricted ARRT certification and registration in Radiography — R(R).
Current California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) / state radiologic technology license.
