    Position Title

    Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Technician Driver -

    Bell Hospital

    Position Summary / Career Interest:

    The Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Technician Driver will provide safe, reliable transportation for patients traveling to and from medical appointments, treatments, and healthcare facilities. Transportation will be conducted by either a wheelchair van, stretcher van, or secured van pending the need of the patient. This position supports our healthcare mission by working with departments across the continuum of care to advance optimal outcomes.

    **NEWLY CREATED DEPARTMENT AND POSITION. What a great time to start a career in healthcare by joining our new service. This role will transport patients between the main campus (39th & Rainbow - Kansas City, KS), local rehab and long term care facilities, our behavioral health facilities - Marillac & Strawberry Hill, and medical offices.

    Schedule: 3 - 12 hour shifts, including rotational Saturdays - 7:45am-8:15pm. No Sundays.

    Start date is scheduled for early to mid-September.

    Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

    • Demonstrates competence in critical thinking, communication, and technical skills related to healthcare transport operations.
    • Collaborates with dispatch and clinical departments to optimize work flows and patient experience.
    • Monitors communication equipment to maintain contact with dispatchers.
    • Maintains timely schedule and prompt response to calls of service.
    • Models effective problem solving and conflict resolution practices.
    • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
    • Properly secure wheelchairs and stretchers using approved restraint systems.
    • Complete administrative assignments such as trip documentation, mileage logs, signatures, and incident reports as required.
    • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPPA regulations.
    • Maintains vehicle and equipment.
    • Approaches work in a manner that makes quality improvement a part of every activity.
    • Adheres to all safety regulations and requirements.
    • Maintains acceptable standards of workplace conduct.
    • Supports and reinforces a culture of safety, excellence, and just culture principles among the team.
    • Assures the vehicle is secured at all times.
    • Adheres to the health system or company Safe Driving policy, including all requirements and guidelines related to driver conduct, vehicle operation, and safety procedures. Maintains compliance and will obey all applicable laws and regulations while operating a company vehicle or driving on company business.
    • Ability to adapt daily schedules to accommodate system needs.
    • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

    Required Education and Experience
    • High School Graduate or GED

    Preferred Education and Experience
    • 1 or more years Transportation or healthcare experience

    Required Licensure and Certification
    • CPR/ AED/ BLS - Other BLS American Heart Association CPR within 60 Days
    • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license, Kansas Class C or equivalent. MVR results must be in compliance with Health System Safe Driving Program Policy.

    • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of local geography, including mapping, street, and GPS systems.
    • Ability to learn the components, operating characteristics, and settings of the equipment to be used.
    • Excellent judgment and ability to prioritize and handle multiple requests calmly and effectively
    • Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Working under pressure and in a team environment ability to work weekends.
    • Ability to follow all hospital infection control policies and procedures
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
    • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of computers and desktop software.
    • Exerting in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
    • Will need to be able to stoop/bend, kneel, and reach.
    • Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
