Work Shift:

I. Position Summary: Primarily responsible for providing professional emergency and non-emergency treatment and/or transport in the pre-hospital or hospital setting. Conducts patient care in compliance with the current Georgia Scope of Practice for the EMT-R provider level. Responsible for carrying out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Houston Healthcare.

II. Qualifications:

A. Education & Training: High School graduate or GED equivalent. Completion of Emergency Medical Responder training program (EMT-R).

B. Experience: None.

C. Required Certification/Registration/Licensure: Current Georgia EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) certification. Valid Georgia driver's license. Current AHA/ARC BLS certification. CPT training within 9 months of hire.

D. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to physically lift and assist in the transport of patients.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through oral and written means.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with employees, volunteers, and management
  • Be able to perform prolonged work under adverse emergency conditions involving physical and mental stress.
  • Be able to think clearly and use independent judgement in the course of daily work.
  • Be able to use and operate diagnostic and patient care equipment.
  • Ability to drive an ambulance in a safe and secure manner.
  • Familiarity to utilize and perform job duties in appropriate personal protective equipment such as gloves, gown, and mask.
