The Department of Exercise Science and Pre-Health Professions in Creighton University's College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in January or August 2027. We seek an outstanding teacher who is committed to excellence in undergraduate education, student engagement, and student-centered learning.

The successful candidate will primarily teach multiple sections of EXS 111 Fundamentals of Human Anatomy and EXS 112 Fundamentals of Human Physiology each academic year. These foundational courses support the undergraduate nursing curriculum and serve students preparing for nursing and other health professions. The successful candidate will be especially attentive to the needs of first-year undergraduate students transitioning to college-level science coursework.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining regular student office hours, participating in departmental meetings and service activities, and contributing to a collaborative academic environment consistent with Creighton University's Catholic, Jesuit mission and values. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, a commitment to high-quality instruction, the ability to foster student success in large foundational courses, and support for the University's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Department of Exercise Science and Pre-Health Professions has experienced substantial enrollment growth in recent years and plays an increasingly important role in supporting the curricula of the College of Nursing and other health professions programs. EXS 111 and EXS 112 generate significant annual student credit hours and are central to the University's commitment to high-quality undergraduate education.

Qualifications

• A master's degree in exercise science, anatomy, physiology, biology, or a closely related field is required; a terminal degree is preferred
• Prior experience teaching undergraduate anatomy and physiology is strongly preferred
• Evidence of, or strong potential for, excellence in undergraduate teaching and educational innovation, particularly in large foundational science courses
• Ability to engage and support first-year students and students preparing for nursing and other health professions
• Ability to foster student learning, development, and decision-making in support of students' goals, success, wellness, and needs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
• Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others
