We are seeking an experienced Nonprofit Accountant Consultant for a 6-month contract engagement. This role is ideal for someone who can hit the ground running and brings strong hands-on experience with MIP Fund Accounting and nonprofit accounting.

Job Details

The Nonprofit Accountant Consultant will provide hands-on accounting support with a strong focus on fund accounting, MIP, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

Perform day-to-day accounting activities within MIP Fund Accounting
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger across multiple funds, programs, and funding sources
Manage accounting for restricted and unrestricted funds
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close
Track grant and program-related revenue and expenses
Ensure expenses are accurately allocated across funds, grants, departments, and programs
Prepare nonprofit financial statements and internal financial reports
Assist with budget-to-actual and grant reporting
Support audit preparation and provide schedules and supporting documentation
Identify and resolve discrepancies within MIP and the general ledger
Ensure accounting practices align with GAAP and nonprofit/fund accounting requirements

Qualifications
MIP Fund Accounting experience strongly preferred
Strong nonprofit and fund accounting experience
3+ years of accounting experience
Experience with restricted/unrestricted funds and grant accounting
Strong general ledger, reconciliation, and month-end close skills
Knowledge of nonprofit GAAP and financial reporting
Strong Excel skills
Ability to work independently and quickly get up to speed in an existing accounting environment
