Key Responsibilities for the Nonprofit Accountant



  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activity

  • he Nonprofit Accountant will prepare financial reports, budgets, journal entries, and account reconciliations

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and grant reporting requirements

  • Assist with audits, tax filings, and preparation of accurate financial statements

  • The Nonprofit Accountant will support leadership with financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic decision-making

  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records to ensure transparency and compliance



Qualifications for the Nonprofit Accountant



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 2+ years of accounting experience; nonprofit experience strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting standards

  • Proficiency with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP platforms

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities
