North American QES & Occupational Safety Manager

Imagine starting your day with a dashboard that covers every North American site: leading indicators, OSHA logs, open audits, customer compliance requests, and training completion. You prioritize an OSHA inspection follow-up, jump into a Microsoft Teams orientation for new hires, and close the afternoon by submitting an Injury Tracking Application update and prepping for OSHA Safety Week. That rhythm—hands-on leadership, compliance mastery, and proactive risk reduction—is the heartbeat of this role.

What you'll lead

As the company’s North American subject matter expert for our QES program, you will build, refine, and scale a best-in-class corporate safety system. You’ll work closely with Operations, HR, Benefits, and our insurance partners to embed a prevention-first culture while meeting regulatory and customer requirements across the U.S. and Canada.

Corporate safety and compliance

• Own the corporate safety framework and standard operating procedures across all North American locations.
• Create, revise, and manage written programs and customer-specific safety documentation.
• Ensure adherence to OSHA and applicable federal, state, provincial, and customer standards.
• Maintain and analyze OSHA recordables, DART, lost workday rates, EMR, and injury metrics at the facility level and enterprise level.
• Administer OSHA 300/300A logs, Injury Tracking Application submissions, and other establishment-level reports.
• Prepare for and coordinate OSHA inspections, voluntary audits, and complaint responses; oversee citations and corrective actions.
• Champion OSHA Safety Week activities and compliance across U.S. and Canadian sites.

Customer programs and third‑party compliance

• Administer ISNetworld, Veriforce, and Avetta to keep contractor and customer safety profiles current.
• Respond to customer safety questionnaires, audits, and time-sensitive compliance requests.
• Manage customer-specific policies, certifications, and training records; keep the online documentation repository current.
• Provide Certificates of Insurance, workers’ compensation documents, and other customer-required safety records.
• Deliver new hire safety orientations in person and virtually via Microsoft Teams.
• Develop and circulate weekly/monthly safety talks, quizzes, handouts, and other training tools.
• Coordinate DISA training and maintain compliance with the Drug & Alcohol Program.
• Oversee PPE reimbursement programs covering equipment, work boots, and safety glasses.
• Create facility safety checklists, safety booklets, and acknowledgment forms.
• Coordinate training for forklifts, overhead cranes, active shooter preparedness, emergency response, and COVID-related topics.
• Be responsible for vehicle and forklift maintenance and establish an equipment preventive maintenance program.

Incident management, insurance, and risk

• Lead occupational injury and illness prevention efforts end-to-end.
• Coordinate workers’ compensation claims, open cases with carriers, manage employee leave, and conduct thorough accident investigations.
• Partner with HR, Benefits, Operations, and insurers on injury management and return-to-work strategies.
• Manage reporting and communication with insurance partners including AIG/Horton and Travelers Insurance.
• Oversee motor vehicle record monitoring, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Advance emergency preparedness and enterprise risk initiatives, including disaster recovery planning and major-event communications.
• Consult on nuclear-related insurance and policy questions with brokers and stakeholders.
• Support environmental compliance efforts and respond to customer environmental questionnaires.

Leadership and collaboration

• Serve as the corporate industrial safety advisor to Operations Managers and leadership teams.
• Facilitate routine safety meetings, site assessments, audits, and quarterly visits.
• Partner with Corporate HR to create and sustain employee safety and compliance policies.
• Address ad hoc safety, regulatory, and employee-related requests.
• Present safety performance and insights in company meetings.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related discipline preferred.
• 5+ years of corporate safety/EHS experience in multi-site manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Deep familiarity with OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation, and safety compliance requirements.
• Hands-on experience with ISNetworld or similar contractor compliance systems.
• Proficiency in incident tracking, OSHA reporting, EMR management, and safety analytics.
• Excellent communication, organization, and project leadership skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and virtual training platforms.
• Ability to travel periodically to facilities throughout North America.

Preferred

• OSHA 30 and/or OSHA 500/510.
• CSP, ASP, CHST, or similar credentials.
• Background working with insurance carriers, brokers, and claims management.

Bonus proficiencies
