The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive care in a fast-paced primary and urgent care setting. This role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients of all ages with acute illnesses, minor injuries, and chronic conditions, while ensuring efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
Perform focused and comprehensive patient assessments for acute and chronic conditions
Diagnose and treat common urgent care conditions (e.g., infections, minor injuries, respiratory illnesses, lacerations)
Manage chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and asthma
Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, X-rays, EKGs)
Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state guidelines
Perform procedures such as suturing, splinting, wound care, incision and drainage
Provide preventive care, including physicals, screenings, and immunizations
Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care
Collaborate with supervising physicians and clinical staff
Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EHR)
Ensure compliance with clinic protocols and regulatory standards
Qualifications
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP)
Active Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice
Board certification (Family Nurse Practitioner preferred – FNP-C or FNP-BC)
Active DEA license
BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in urgent care, emergency, or primary care preferred
Skills & Competencies
Strong clinical decision-making in a fast-paced environment
Ability to manage high patient volume efficiently
Proficiency in minor procedures and urgent care skills
Excellent bedside manner and communication skills
Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
Experience with EHR systems
Work Environment
Fast-paced urgent care and primary care clinic
Requires flexibility with evenings, weekends, and some holidays
High patient volume with a mix of scheduled and walk-in visits
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in urgent care or emergency medicine
Comfortable treating patients across the lifespan (pediatrics to geriatrics)
Experience with occupational health, DOT physicals, or workers’ compensation
