Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and clinically strong Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our team in Yuma, Arizona. This Mid-Level Provider role works under the guidance of the Medical Director and is responsible for evaluating and treating patients with work-related injuries and illnesses in an occupational medicine setting.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing cases from the initial evaluation through Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI), performing a variety of occupational health physicals, and providing clear, defensible medical documentation and work restrictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with work-related injuries and illnesses
- Manage occupational medicine cases from initial visit through Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI)
- Develop and implement treatment plans consistent with occupational medicine best practices and clinical guidelines
- Determine patient work status and provide clear, medically appropriate, and defensible work restrictions
- Perform occupational health examinations, including:
- Pre-employment physicals
- Return-to-work exams
- DOT physicals
- Employer-specific physicals
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation within Proactive's EMR system
- Collaborate closely with the Medical Director and clinical staff to ensure high-quality patient care
- Communicate effectively with employers, case managers, and other stakeholders as needed
- Support a professional, efficient, and patient-centered clinic environment
Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Arizona
- Current DEA registration, if applicable
- Prior experience in occupational medicine, urgent care, family medicine, orthopedics, or emergency medicine preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage cases independently while working under physician supervision
- Experience performing occupational health physicals preferred
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Comfortable using EMR systems
Preferred Experience
- Workers' compensation case management
- MMI evaluations and ongoing injury management
- DOT certification or willingness to obtain it
- Experience providing return-to-work guidance and work restrictions
