NP/PA Fellowship Clinical Faculty – Primary Care

A mission-driven community health organization in Northern California is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join its postgraduate Fellowship Program as Clinical Faculty. This role combines clinical practice with academic leadership in a collaborative, patient-centered environment dedicated to expanding access to high-quality primary care for underserved populations.

The position offers a unique opportunity to mentor emerging providers while maintaining an active clinical practice within a nationally recognized community health center system serving diverse patient populations across multiple outpatient sites.

Position Summary

The NP/PA Fellowship Clinical Faculty position is a hybrid academic-clinical role with approximately:

  • 50% Clinical Practice
  • 50% Academic and Fellowship Faculty Responsibilities

The Clinical Faculty member will provide direct patient care while mentoring and educating postgraduate NP/PA Fellows in an outpatient primary care setting.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary care services within scope of practice guidelines.
  • Conduct patient histories, physical examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies and implement appropriate therapies.
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Deliver patient education and promote preventive health strategies.
  • Maintain a limited patient panel while serving as a clinical role model for Fellows.
  • Participate in peer review, chart review, quality improvement, and clinical performance initiatives.

Fellowship Faculty & Academic Responsibilities

  • Mentor and supervise NP/PA Fellows during clinical training experiences.
  • Provide direct clinical instruction and evaluate Fellow performance and competency development.
  • Maintain office hours for Fellow consultation, advising, and career counseling.
  • Collaborate with Fellowship leadership to develop and refine educational objectives and curriculum.
  • Assist Fellows with Quality Improvement (QI) projects, including timelines, expectations, and presentations.
  • Monitor Fellow procedure logs, educational milestones, and assigned deadlines.
  • Participate in academic advising and individualized learner support.
  • Assist with recruitment, interviewing, and selection of Fellowship candidates.
  • Support outreach efforts with academic institutions and student rotations.

Program & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Attend Fellowship meetings, faculty meetings, medical staff meetings, and committee meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with Fellowship leadership regarding program development and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in team-building and faculty development activities.
  • Assist in development and completion of program evaluations and accreditation-related activities.
  • Maintain all required licensure, certifications, CME, and credentialing documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and clinical practice standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Current unrestricted California license as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice experience as a provider or completion of a postgraduate NP/PA Fellowship program.
  • Strong commitment to medical education, mentorship, and evidence-based practice.
  • Experience providing high-quality primary care in outpatient or community health settings.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience using electronic medical records (EMR/EHR).
  • Working knowledge of compliance and regulatory standards in community health or ambulatory care environments.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • BCLS certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS certification.
  • Prior clinical teaching or instructional experience.
  • Experience working with underserved or diverse patient populations.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $126,000 – $176,400 annually
