Job Description

General Purpose:

Responsiblefor providing assessment, evaluation, and treatment of acute care, adult medical-surgical patients under the guidance of the Critical Care physicians.

Essential Duties:

  • Facilitates appropriate admissions to appropriate health system units by initiating orders, coordinating with appropriate attending physician, and moderating medication reconciliation process.
  • Performs and dictates History & Physical, medical Consultation, Discharge Summary and SOAP notes as per Critical Care service standards.
  • Assists with development of plan of care.
  • Reviews diagnostic X-Rays, monitors lab values and other diagnostic studies.
  • Performs daily rounds as assigned by Critical Care physicians.
  • Communicates with physicians, nursing staff, residents and other members of the medical team to maintain current and accurate updates in patient status.
  • Willingness to learn to perform procedures including intubations and the placement of central lines, chest tubes, and Quinton catheters.

Job Requirements

General Requirements Current Michigan PA/NP license • BLS/ACLS Work Experience Minimum of one year experience in acute hospital setting Education Graduate of an accredited PA/NP program. Specialized Knowledge and Skills * Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective plan of care. • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, families, physicians and other hospital caregivers. • Computer skills appropriate for navigating current word processing, database, and networking programs.
