    Description

    Fenner Precision Polymers has an exciting internship opportunity with the Fenner New Product Textile Engineering Team at Manheim/Lititz, PA. The successful candidate will be responsible for product/process/testing needs for the textile product category. 

    As part of the New Product Development Team, you will ……. 

    S/he will be responsible for collaborating with various departments to: 

    • Conduct lab testing on technical textiles according to product development needs 
    • 3D model new fixtures or product models to enhance product understanding 
    • Learn components and processes of rapier looms 
    • Technical documentation: 
    • Updating specs to new format 
    • Product validation – mechanical properties like tensile, tear, EPI, PPI, weight, etc. 
    • 3D modeling of weave patterns 
    • R&D projects 
    • Alternative fabrics – quartz, MWPE, etc. – applications, testing 

    Core Competencies Required  

    • Demonstrated ability to…. 
    • 3D model in Solidworks 
    • Record and interpret measured properties of lab tests 
    • Proven skills in… 
    • Mechanical engineering principles – stress, strain, coefficient of friction, etc. 
    • Statistical analysis of test results

    • Basic lab equipment and software – MTS, hot presses, Microsoft package, etc. 
    • Novel problem solving 

    Education and/or Relative Experience:  

    • A minimum of 2 years of college in a related field.
