Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Decatur is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support and improve highly automated steel manufacturing operations. This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with large-scale industrial systems, lead impactful capital and process improvement projects, and contribute directly to the success of a world-class steel operation. Successful candidates will thrive in a fast-paced environment that values safety, innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting maintenance and operations through technical troubleshooting and system optimization
  • Designing and implementing electrical and automation improvements
  • Managing capital and continuous improvement projects
  • Developing electrical standards, specifications, and documentation
  • Troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, drives, motors, and industrial control systems
  • Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times

Minimum Qualifications:

1. The ability and desire to work safely and provide guidance for an accident-free workplace

2. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and two years of relevant work experience, or five years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree

3. Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial controls

4. Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles
