Description
The School of Human Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Southern Illinois University Carbondale invites applications for a full-time Assistant Lecturer position in the Social Work Program. This is a 9 month term appointment, beginning on August 11, 2026, with the possibility of renewal based on performance, program needs, and available funding. The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching mission of the Social Work program by delivering high-quality instruction in undergraduate and/or graduate social work courses. The position may include face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online teaching modalities. The faculty member may also participate in service activities that support the mission and operations of the School, College, and University.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited program. Applicants who earned their social work degree from an international school must supply a equivalency determination letter from the CSWE at the time of application.
At least (2-3) years of post-MSW professional social work practice experience.
Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Social Work (DSW or PhD) or a closely related field.
Previous teaching experience in higher education.
Experience with online or hybrid course delivery.
Licensure in social work (e.g., LCSW or equivalent).
Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to inclusive excellence.
Familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards and assessment processes.
