Job Summary and Qualifications
The Nuclear Medicine NM Technologist performs general nuclear medicine and PET CT exams, providing the highest level of customer service and image quality. The NM tech also receives, calibrates, logs, administers, and monitors the decay of radioactive isotopes following appropriate policies, procedures, and radiation safety practices.
What You Will Do in This Role
• Perform nuclear medicine exams following protocols and in a timely manner, ensuring a high quality of care. • Receive, calibrate, log, administer, and monitor the decay of radioactive isotopes. • Provide radiation safety support in the event of a radiation incident. • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records. • Record patients medical information. • Coordinate patient flow and check the daily list to ensure all exams are complete. • Inform patients about the procedure and answer questions. • Interact and professionally communicate with co-workers, physicians, patients, and family members. • Maintain all licenses, certifications, and accreditations required as outlined in Job Qualifications. • Adhere to the facilitys ICARE values. • Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments. • Prepare education for the patient on discharge instructions. • Demonstrate the ability to perform technical skills and procedures. • Be knowledgeable in the handling of radioactive materials. • Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served. • Properly measure radioactive waste and know how to dispose of it properly in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications
• Graduation from an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine. • Current registry by CNMT or ARRT N is required. • BLS required. • PET CT experience preferred.
