Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for supporting nuclear medicine laboratory operations, performing diagnostic procedures, maintaining equipment, and ensuring patients and families are properly educated about procedures. The technologist must perform all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, safety requirements, and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with established protocols and standards.
• Support daily nuclear medicine laboratory operations.
• Test, operate, and monitor nuclear medicine equipment to ensure proper functionality.
• Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures and explain the procedure, preparation requirements, and expectations.
• Educate patients and their families regarding procedures and address questions or concerns.
• Ensure patient safety throughout diagnostic procedures.
• Follow applicable radiation safety, infection control, and departmental policies.
• Maintain accurate documentation of procedures and patient information.
• Identify and report equipment or operational issues.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory and professional standards.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
• Associate Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Current certification as a Radiologic Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Current certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
• Dual licensure/certification in Nuclear Medicine and CT required.
• Strong patient-care, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and patient safety.
