About the Role
Under the supervision of the Nuclear Medicine Manager and/or Assistant Chief Technologist, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing advanced imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by Nuclear Medicine Physicians.
The technologist promotes exceptional patient care and service excellence while adhering to departmental, organizational, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:
Nuclear Medicine Imaging
Perform high-quality dynamic, static, gated SPECT, and PET imaging procedures utilizing appropriate age-specific standards to obtain diagnostic information for referring physicians.
Operate a variety of SPECT and PET/CT cameras and computer systems in accordance with departmental protocols to ensure high diagnostic image quality.
Radiopharmacy Responsibilities
Perform radiopharmacy duties, including receipt, preparation, administration, and storage of radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals while ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Obtain radionuclides through generator elution systems or bulk shipments while maintaining sterile technique and appropriate shielding practices.
Verify radioactive materials for leakage and activity according to departmental procedures.
Quality Control & Equipment Performance
Perform departmental quality control procedures for both general nuclear medicine and PET imaging.
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly quality control testing on gamma cameras, PET equipment, computers, dose calibrators, well counters, and auxiliary equipment.
Ensure all imaging equipment remains in optimal working condition and meets established performance standards.
Radiation Safety
Practice safe handling of radioactive materials in compliance with departmental, state, and federal regulations.
Follow ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles to minimize radiation exposure for patients, staff, and self.
Utilize protective equipment including syringe shields and lead carrying devices as required.
Department Operations
Schedule patients and manage workflow using Imagecast and other applicable systems.
Accurately track patient arrivals, procedure progress, and exam completion.
Complete assigned duties efficiently to support departmental goals and operational excellence.
Teamwork & Professionalism
Demonstrate commitment to coworkers, patients, and the organization through professional conduct and collaboration.
Proactively assist team members to support efficient department operations.

Qualifications:
Education
Graduate of an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
Associate's Degree required.
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience
Demonstrated technical skills meeting entry-level standards for routine Nuclear Medicine imaging.
NMTCB or ARRT (N) certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology required and must be in good standing.
CPR certification required.
Licensure/Certification
ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification required.
CPR certification required.
Special Skills
Knowledge of radiopharmaceuticals, nuclear medicine equipment, and imaging procedures.
Strong understanding of anatomy and imaging principles.
Experience with computer systems and PACS applications.
Excellent organizational, communication, customer service, and patient care skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds to assist with patient transfers and positioning.
