    Overview

    Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center's (DHMC) Nuclear Medicine department at our Lebanon, NH campus has a rare opening for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join the team.

    DHMC's Nuclear Medicine Technologists perform a wide range of scans utilizing diagnostic radiotracers to image the body both anatomically and functionally. We currently operate two SPECT/CT scanners, on which we perform a wide range of scans, from gastric emptying studies to advanced cardiac imaging. We utilize our PET/CT scanner to perform an array of oncology exams, including standard FDG, Neuroendocrine Detectnet, and prostate PSMA studies.

    In addition to the diagnostic wing of our department, we also have a thriving therapeutic side. We currently offer Lutathera and Pluvicto therapies and foresee a sizeable increase in this field moving forward.

    The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic studies utilizing radiopharmaceuticals and imaging. They prepare radiopharmaceuticals for patient administration.

    This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with rotating shifts covering from 6:00 am - 5:00 pm. This position does not require nights, weekends, holidays, or call.

    DHMC is offering a $20,000 sign-on/retention bonus for this position. *The bonus is for external hires only, and certain conditions apply.

    Responsibilities

    Prepares radiopharmaceuticals following department manual guidelines. Performs diagnostic studies. Reviews medical record for pertinent information and EKG for stability. Checks for appropriate test requisition. Transfers patients to treatment rooms; explains procedure. Interacts with physician to adjust diagnostic studies program/plan. Positions patient according to protocol. Administers intravenous or venous line injections of radiopharmaceuticals as authorized by physician. Recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions; be prepared to administer C.P.R. Selects proper technique/protocol to obtain best data. Operates and manipulates gamma camera to produce and process images. Develops films or sends to PACS. Evaluates data to determine if more data is needed. Operates computer to produce and process clinical data. Manipulates raw data. Reviews studies for correct positioning and overall quality. Makes necessary notation and completes hard copy. Selects pertinent data to forward to physician. Performs quality control procedures to ensure Federal and departmental standards/ requirements are met. Organizes daily work schedule to set inpatient procedure schedules and responds to emergencies as they occur. Inventories drug count daily. Performs daily calibration check on equipment. Logs problems and usage; alerts supervisor, as appropriate. Orders and maintains supplies. Provides for patient care: comfort, safety, and patient confidentiality. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of A.M.A. approved school of Nuclear Medicine, registered with the A.R.R.T. or N.M.T.C.B.

    Required Licensure/Certifications

    • Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support at hire.
    • Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire.
    • Radiologic Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Technology (RT-N) or Nuclear Cardiology Technologist (NCT) or Nuclear Medicine Advanced Associates (NMAA)
